October 10, 2011

This week I had the privelege of attending the Youth Temple Trip at the Louisville Temple. My companion and I were so excited. The night before going Elder Eliot found a name that he could do baptisms for the dead for. This was the first person in his whole family that had work done for them in the temple. So this experience made it that more monumental. While at the temple we talked with the Temple President to get permission for him to stand in proxy for his ancestor. After the baptism took place I was the one to perform the confirmation for his ancestor. That experience was very special to me and I will never forget it. Along with the many other names I did confirmations for. During the trip we did a total of 130 names for ancestors of the ward! There were a handful of names one woman in the ward did which were extremely special...that it lead me to tear up. I could tell that they did indeed accept the work that was done for them. Of course anyone who knows the gospel understands that people do in fact have the chance to reject the ordinance done for them on the other side of the veil.

Anyways onto other news...but first I want to apologize for not having always e-mailed every week. There are so many stories I have not written about...that I will possibly share with ya'll in the future. (saying "ya'll" feels so natural to say...)

With serving in the Brandenburg ward you get to meet so many families that are Military families. If you know people from the Military...they sometimes have a thing for tattoos. I would say the tattoo I like the most out of any of them is from a Sister that has her husbands name tattooed on her neck...=). Her husbands name of course is James! Within each letter you can see the American Flag was colored in.

I decided I wanted to buy some Disney Fake Tattoos :)! So I put them onto the inside of my biceps...^_^ I put Ariel on my left arm and Cinderella on my right. Lol I showed them off to people in the ward and they busted up laughing, and the little kids thought it was super neat. I'm telling you...as a missionary you come to enjoy the simple things in life! I love it.

So recently I went to a place called White Castle for the first time in my life. A member decided that they were going to buy what is called a Crave Case...which comes with 30 burgers that are called Sliders. We bought the Cheeseburger version. Each burger contains 170 calories. So with 3 people dividing up 30...that means Brother Carr ate 10, Elder Eliot ate 10 and I ate 10. If you do the math we each ate 1700 Calories...! Let me just say that took some time to recover from...along with the Dr Pepper drink we had to go with it.

This week I went to a pumpkin farm with the Ward Mission Leader, his wife and little 3 year old. We all had a blast. I bought my first pumpkin ^_^. Its small but the perfect size. I am making a decision on what I want to carve into it.

Yesterday I decided to purchase a ring since my fingers were begging for an accesory to wear. While I was looking for a ring I couldn't really tell exactly how the rings fit since there was a metal wire around it for the security so people don't steal em'. I figured the ring would fit though and went for it. As I tried the ring on all my fingers I realized the only finger the ring fits well on is my wedding finger. :) I don't mind that though. I was getting tired of not having something on my finger to put on.

Love you all...

Elder James Dimter
