Feb 15, 2011

Hello Everyone its Elder James Dimter,
Its my first week at the MTC and I'm loving it! The food is pretty great and I am loving my district. There has been so much time spent in the classroom that it is hard not to feel the spirit from all the reading that we get done. My companion is fun to chat with about the gospel. Him and I are all about time at the gym when we aren't doing Teaching Evaluations. :D So far the teaching evaluations have been a great learning experience. I've been real good about being the one to ask for the practice investigators to commit. :) It is exciting. (My teacher Brother Geddes, mentioned to me during an evaluation that I'm going to make a great missionary and he can see that from one of the lessons I was teaching I was really sincere and could tell the investigator could feel a desire to come unto Christ.)

My p-days are on Tuesday at the MTC to let you know.
So I bet you are all wondering how the first day went so let me tell you a bit how it went.

Feb 9th - I woke up around 10 o'clock and thought to myself I am about to enter the MTC and give up sleeping in for 2 years all for the Lord/people I teach. It was quite the feeling. I got everything packed up and ready to go and Becca drove me to the MTC around 12:30. My heart was racing as I we were getting closer to the MTC yet I had a smile on my face. I am about to prepare for my mission at the MTC!!!
I had a really nice host missionary help me with my bags and gave me a guid around the MTC.

Here is a bit of what I wrote in my journal at the end of the night.
Feb 9th- First day at the MTC and I am already enjoying it.
I was shown the place I was going to study then the place I was going to live. I live with 4 Elders and have 7 other Elders in my District. 3 going to Kentucky and the other 4 are going to Alabama :).
I was the first Elder to make it to the room of 4 and I chose the bottom bunk on 14m room 417 which has a nice view of the mountains.
My companions name is Elder Jolley and him and I really get along. We got a chance to do some role play with investigators the very first day. Just there were some other companionships that were also new to the MTC to experience it with us.

(Because of my time constraint I am not going to write much about how the lessons went so far at the MTC, but let me tell you all that my companion are working diligently on our teaching skills. I'm the senior companion so I'm a little bit more feeling obligated to step up by talking.)

Anyways neat thing today I met someone who lived in Kentucky so he was telling me what to expect there. Also I was talking with my old zone leader Elder Allen and he is going to serve in the Fresno mission so watch out for him. :) He has got crazy blonde hair.

The scheduled time I leave the MTC is Feb 28th to head to Kentucky. Should be exciting.

With Love, Elder Dimter

p.s.
Steve & Hayley - How are you doing? I miss you two by the way.
Sarah and Chris - How are you?

Mom- thanks for the money in the letter for stamps.
Dad - take care of yourself I love you. My branch president is praying for you. So am I.
