Hey Family,
This is an exciting week....
MY BIRTHDAY - April 20th is my golden birthday...I'm turning 20!
PLANS FOR MY BIRTHDAY - Tracting with my new companion Elder Platter so we can find an elect family to be baptized. (What better way to celebrate my birthday than to find those ready to hear of the restored gospel! WHOOHOO). I won't be tracting all day though.
We've got a dinner appointment with a young family from the ward. (they have 3 little boys that I love being around. I feel like a big brother to the kids). Anyone who knows me should know that I love spending time with little kids. (like my cousins Ryan and Jonathan Futch)
NEW COMPANION - Elder Platter from San Diego, CA. Quick things about him: crazy driver, loves all the same music I do, used to be in a band, doesn't exercise much...he calls himself tubby (this is the fattest he has ever been in his life).
STORY - So this Sunday the ward had a big feast after church which was great! Not only was I feed there but my new companion got an opportunity to meet so many people from the ward. After the meal Elder Platter and I were given some food that was left over. Elder Platter exclaimed I love this ward!
I love this ward...my companion and I hope to baptize a new family into the ward - before Elder Platter goes home in July.
So in this ward there are a lot of old people in the Madisonville ward. Something I love about old people is they have so many stories to tell...here are some that I can't forget to write...
STORY FROM SOMEONE ELSE - The Story of my dear friend Brother Cox. He is a convert of the Church about 50 years ago. He shared this week with my companion that before he became a member of the church he saw General Conference. There he felt prompted that he'd get an opportunity to meet with the prophet (President Kimball). He told the group of people if they wanted to meet the prophet to follow him...so just before the session was over he took the group of people to try to see the prophet...as he was walking closer to the backstage...he ran into a long time buddy of his who happened to be a secretary for Conference. His friend asked him how many people were in his group and he said 6. The friend then said "stand right here brother Cox the prophet will shortly be walking just through here...". Within minutes the prophet walked backstage and shook the hand of Brother Cox, his fiance Sister Cox and the rest in the gropu. Brother Cox said as I shook the hand of President Kimbal I could tell he was truly called of God...=D. After that experience Brother Cox knew it wouldn't be long till he'd get baptized...=D.
Years later Brother Cox meet another important person while his Stake was being organized...by none other than Thomas S. Monson our current prophet. While Thomas S. Monson was in Evansville, IN (the stake) Brother Cox was interviewed by Thomas S. Monson to become the first bishop of the Madisonville Ward. :) He was called to serve in the ward as the Bishop or First Councelor. :D.
NEWS -
This Sunday is Easter - Don't forget why we celebrate Easter - the day Christ was resurrected! I'd like to recommend everyone to take time to read from the scriptures about that event...just yesterday during FHE I listened to a family discuss the ressurection...the spirit was there.
STRANGE THINGS FROM THE WEEK -
Man - black guy that looks like he could be a black Santa...
Man - blue hair
Man - a lisp
Woman - facial hair, glasses, and no teeth (tongue sticks out naturally eww)
Man - a man that used to be a woman...={ and they used to be a member of the church.
I am so glad to be serving in "The Best Town On Earth" - Madisonville, KY. So many stories to tell...anyways I've got to go.
Love you all,
Elder James Lee Dimter
