Hey everyone!
Yesterday was memorial day so the library was closed. There were SO many people outside. I was impressed to see all the patriotism outside it was great. On every street you would have thought a family reunion was going on ;).
Some big news this week bugs have come out of the ground. The bug I am not used to seeing is a bug called...Magicicada. They look like giant flies with red eyes!
You can see them everywhere. They are all over trees and they make a LOUD noise that comes in waves.
FISHING STORY
Anyways, just yesterday I went fishing in a pond at a members house. I went with another old man (Brother Herb Cox) from the ward that has gone over a thousand times fishing. While fishing in the pond I caught my very first fish of my life in a matter of seconds of having my bait out! It was a blue gill. I also caught a bass ^_^. After catching those kind of fishes a number of times my companion and I went for catfish. The owner of the pond Brother Smith came out and put his reel out and a catfish bit his bait. So he handed my companion the rod to reel the catfish in. Unfortunately the line ended up breaking...
Boy I look forward to fishing again sometime with Brother Cox. Also I could see myself going fishing when I get back home. Its fun! Especially when you have good company.
(I didn't get any picture unfortunately of me fishing but I will get some next time)
Anyways this coming Sunday we'll be seeing John Slaton get baptized. Elder Platter and I are stoked for him. He wants a simple baptism. We asked the bishop to baptize him but we found out the bishop can't so we are trying to figure out who else from the ward could. I'll update you on that next week.
Oh so this weekend John was working on his families tabacco farm. For anyone that doesn't know Kentucky is the largest tabacco growing state in the US! So go figure I meet someone who works in a farm.
I wonder if Kentucky has the most smokers out of any other State...
Well I should get going Elder Platter and I have some service to do today. We are going to clean the gutters of an old lady from the wards house since she is going to be driving an investigator of ours to church. Also I get to help the library make some more paper plate ducks for the children. :D.
I love you all back home and hope to hear from ya'll on how your doing.
Thanks for your e-mail Brian. Also Grandma thanks for your e-mails too.
Thanks Jen for all the wonderful letters. My companion joked that you are going to get carpal tunnel syndrome ;). Keep up all the good work with your internship at Curves and writing me.
with love,
Elder James Dimter
p.s. I'll see if I can upload new pictures next week.
